Facebook Ad Disapprovals


Hello, everyone. It’s Jennifer from the FB Ads Lab. Today, I’d like to speak to you a little bit about the recent rash  — I guess there’s no better word for it – of disapprovals that we’re seeing coming through.

If you are offering a legitimate product, a legitimate service and all of a sudden, you find that your ads are getting disapproved, don’t despair. You’re not alone. It’s happening to all of us, and it’s across the board.

Facebook are tightening up their restrictions. And there’s a couple of changes you might be able to make that might help your ads get approved.

One thing is that you might want to include a Privacy Policy on your website. So, on the landing page that you’re sending your traffic to, make sure you have a link to your Privacy Policy.

You also want to have a Terms of Service or a Terms of Use. So, if you’re going to be collecting names and email addresses on your landing page, you want to make sure that you have a terms of use so that people can find out exactly what’s going to happen with their name and email address when they enter it on your website.

Facebook are looking for those two things, and they keep saying that to our clients - that you need to have this on your landing page.

We’ve also had a few instances where we have had that on our landing pages and yet, they’re still disapproving our ads. So, what do you do if that’s your situation? Well, there are a couple of things you can do.

One is you can make sure that your ad copy is crystal clear. If you’re expecting people to enter their name and email address on the next page, then please say that in your ad copy. We’re finding our ads that are crystal clear are getting approved. If you’re going with some vague enticing ad copy, for these cases, you may not get your ads approved. So, it’s worth a try to say, “On the next page, enter your name and email address to watch this fantastic video” or, “Learn three steps on improving your business. Enter your name and email to watch” or “to learn more” or “to participate”.

You can even say that there’s a free 30-day trial and then, it’s going to cost them x-amount of dollars. Now, I know those of you who are involved in marketing are going to go, “Aahhh… I’m not going to say that,” but if you’re not getting any ads approved, what else are you going to do? So, it’s definitely worth a shot to give these things a try and see if you can get your ads approved.
