Keeping Your Facebook Ads Fresh

Hi, everyone. It’s Jennifer from the Today, I’d like to talk to you about keeping your ads fresh on Facebook.

Now, there are a couple of things that you really need to understand. One of them is that ads tend to survive between three and five days. Now, if your ad has been running longer than that, good for you. That’s pretty cool! But most of our ads die off between three and five days.

Now, time and time again, people come to me and say, “Oh! My ads worked for about a week. And then, they died.” Well, that happens to everyone. The best way to get over that hump is to make sure that you have new ads that you can start up right behind them. So, when one ad dies, you start a new one and that’s just how it goes.

In order to do that, you need to have a lot of ads coming through. Now, one thing that you can do is create a little formula for yourself. I start with ten imagesten different images that I think would fit this market, this client, this product or service, or offer. Find ten images. Then, I write about five to ten headlines and five to ten different ad copies. I combine them to make a good 100 or 150 ads.

We take those ads and submit them for approval in batches of ten. Once they’re approved, then we can pause, start, restart, test and split-test the best ones against each other. Once we have an ad that is achieving much higher than the Facebook minimum (the Facebook average CTR at the moment is 0.02%), then we’ll start up a couple of more ads and see if they beat it. If they can beat it, that’s fantastic. We pause the first one and keep testing against the next best one.

It’s a constant battle between which ones are better now and starting up new ads. You always have something to fall back on if one good ad dies out.

The best way to do this is to take your images that work (the images that get the best click-through rate) and create various versions of those. You can create some with borders, different colored borders, backgrounds, different shading, different sizes, different focuses and that kind of thing. You can add text to the top of it or a symbol to the top of it. Take that one image that seems to convert really well for you and transform it. Make various versions of it and see if you can’t better your best.
